Congrats!
Today we chose our student council representatives! Each candidate addressed the class and spoke about why they would make a good leader for 8C and what they would contribute to our classroom, our school, and our community. Each candidate did a wonderful job of sharing their thoughts with the class. As a result - we had a really tight race for 8C class reps! The candidates chosen are :
Bradley Cripps
Mikaela Kucharczek
and subs : Shania Brown and Daniel Lamatia
Congratulations!
Homework this evening : some math was assigned today - a few short questions where the kids need to classify triangles by their angles and side length...and a few "building triangles" questions where the kids need to measure and draw the appropriate triangle. If anyone needs help - I will be available during nutrition breaks.
Hope you have a great day!

Another Week!
Another week has come and gone!!!
We have had a busy week in Room 18! From science experiments, to gym challenges, to learning about supplementary and complementary angles.... certainly a busy class!
Here are a few items that you may be interested in knowing before the weekend :)
1. 90% of the kids have brought back their "off-school-property" gym forms AND their science trip forms.
We still need a few kids to bring them back in - along with their "Parent Brag Sheets"
2. The science trip to Island Lake is next Wednesday - and we still need parent volunteers. If you are available to help out - even for half a day - please let me know as soon as possible.
3. The kids have a music quiz tomorrow on note names.
4. In language we have been working on their "ME" essays and we are at the brainstorming stage. Anyone who is not finished their organizer will have it for homework this weekend.
5. In math we have been working on supplementary and complementary angles and most of the kids have been completing their work in class - so no homework has been assigned yet.
Tomorrow, those kids that have returned their permission forms will be heading to Centre 2000 to play tennis at the courts or soccer baseball at the diamonds.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Tuesday!
I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and enjoyed the warm weather!
We have had a great start to the week! In class, we have started many activities. In language we are working on a 4-square writing assignment. The kids got to choose their topic : Rain Forests are Complex Places OR Pierre-Luc Gangon is One of the Best Skateboarders in Canada. Each student received a graphic organizer with the information ALREADY on it. Their job is to develop a good essay, with well-developed paragraphs, around the information already given. Most students finished the task in class, however some students may be finishing this assignment at home tonight.
In math we worked on a "refresher" activity . We discussed lines, line segments, rays, angles, properties of shapes...and then completed a brief assignment where the kids had to prove to me how much geometry they remembered from last year. All work was done in class.
In science, we will continue to work on our Fluids unit. We are going on a trip next Wednesday - the 21st of September - to Island Lake Conservation Area in Orangeville. The kids will be doing water studies for half a day (which corresponds to a couple of their science units this year including fluids) and then will be participating in Character-Ed activities for the other half of the day. Permission forms went home today, and the cost is $4. We also need parent volunteers to join us that day. Please have the forms and money back to the school by the end of the week.
Other info :
1. Music test on Friday - naming notes
2. Parent Brag sheets are due by Friday
3.All other information sheets are due in offfice by Wednesday
4. Magazine sales packages went home yesterday and are to be returned just after Thanksgiving.
I hope everyone has a great week.... see you at Open House on the 27th!
