They have chosen a movie/potluck afternoon this Friday! All treats (except kiwi) are welcome:) Well done!

Progress Reports!

Just a quick reminder that the progress reports go home today.  Please review these with your son/daughter - It is important that you go over their progress and learning skills for the first part of this term.
Interviews are scheduled for next Thursday evening and all day Friday - that's November 20 - 21st. There is an important letter going home regarding the scheduling of interviews. Please review this, and then go online to book a time to see me. If next week doesn't work for you, please call me or email me so we can arrange a different time.

The Remembrance Day assembly yesterday was so well done. Thank you to all of the students in 8D who took part in the assembly - well done!

Summaries for End of Days chapters are due on Friday. Remembrance Day posters/poems/essays are due on Monday.

In math, we are finishing up square roots, cubed roots and perfects squares. We will be moving on to a brief unit on scientific notation.

In gym, we are working on our volleyball skills. Sign-ups for the school volleyball team have gone up and practices will start next week.

Take care,

Miss Waddell

Tuesday!

This week is well underway!

We are focusing on Remembrance Day this week in our language rotations.  We are reading Canada Remember Times - which is a great resource from Veterans Canada. It is a newspaper style activity that the kids read through and go over and discuss in small groups. Activities and information regarding our Canadian Forces and their service during WW1, WW2, Afghanistan, and other conflicts that our members have contributed to are included in this newspaper. The Legion is also having a poster/poem/essay contest that the kids are participating in for Remembrance Day as well.  We are still reading our class novel - End of Days - and we are still working on chapter summaries.

In math, we are working on exponents and perfect squares, as well as square roots. No quizzes or tests on the horizon right now.

In gym, we are working on volleyball skills.

In history, the students are discussing the 5 external events that led up to the Confederation of Canada. The kids are working in small groups and will share their research early next week.

The Remembrance Day assembly is next Tuesday - I will keep you posted on the exact time.

Take care,
Miss Waddell
