The kids had a great last day of school!

Secret Santa went off without a hitch and the year-end social was fun!

Book reports due tomorrow......

The dance is tomorrow periods 3-5....all homework must be done before heading to the dance. The kids know this, and are prepared to complete everything before heading out.  Students who choose not to go, or those that don't have permission to go, will be in class as normal.

Our holiday social is the last two periods on Friday - treats and Christmas cheer - are welcome!!!!

In math, we are learning about Scientific Notation.... and this will continue in the new year!

In language, the child labour research assignments will be due in the new year.

4. Thursday - periods 3 to 5 ... intermediate dance...sponsored by student council...MORE INFO TO COME

5. Friday is the last day..... periods 6 and 7 will be a Christmas social....treats and socializing expected :)

Wednesday!

It's snowing out!!!

Christmas is coming...

Novel studies are moving along at a pretty good pace.... the kids have a period to work on their literature-circle tasks and their chapter summaries tomorrow.

In language , we have also started a research project on child labour...the kids are studying various countries around the world, and their policies regarding child labour.  We are also investigating the dark side of child labour : where it exists and what forms of labour there are around the world.

In math, we are finishing up exponents and moving on to perfect squares and square roots.  And then the fun begins : Scientific Notation!!

In health we have been looking at first-aid response, and in gym, we have started playing a new game called pinball. Ask the kids to explain how to play :)

 Next Week's Activities :

Cookies!!!!! Sometime next week, I would like to carry on the tradition of baking and decorating cookies with the kids!  I would LOVE to have parent volunteers to come in and help us - the more , the merrier- and would ask that if possible you send any bowls, mixing spoons... cookie cutters.......into the school so we have what we need to create these fabulous treats!  Also , a toonie or loonie would be helpful - as I will take care of purchasing all of the cookie ingredients :)

Secret Santa !!!!! Any students wanting to take part in our Secret Santa festivities, will be drawing a name from the hat to pick their "Santa" .  Over the course of the last five days of school before break, the kids SECRETLY leave treats, little prizes, stickers, cards, clues and trinkets for their friend.  On the last day of school, a final gift (no more than $10!!!) is brought in to give to their Santa at the revealing of all Secret Santas.  We will have a class celebration the last day of school before the holidays - all parents are welcome!

A reminder that there will be no school on Friday, December 14.

Postponed

Unfortunately, over half of the students in 8D did not have their homework done today - the novel study tasks and summaries - so The Monoploy celebration has been postponed....

Hopefully everyone will be completing their homework/assignments next week!

Friday is here!!!!!

Tomorrow is Monopoly day.....treats and movie last two periods of the day!!!

Chapter summaries and literature circle tasks are due for period one tomorrow...

In math, we have started exponents and will continue with perfect squares, square roots and Scientific Notation....

Monopoly!!!

I can't believe it, but a group in the class has finally won Monopoly!!!! They have "requested" a 2-period movie/treat afternoon for winning the game :)
That will take place this Friday afternoon....all treats (except those with nuts) are welcome!!!

The kids wrote their math quiz today, although many of them need another period to finish.  Tomorrow's math period will be dedicated to finishing up. 

The kids have a media assignment due tomorrow : gum wrappers are due in the morning.

Novel studies are moving along well - tasks for literature circles are due to present on Friday.  Chapter summaries are due Monday.

Welcome to December!!!

This week, we are focusing on our novel studies... with chapter summaries due tomorrow (Monday) and tasks due for literature circles on Friday.

For media studies : the gum wrappers are due on Wednesday.

In math, the kids have a number relations quiz on Tuesday and we will review on Monday.
