Halloween!!
This week is rolling along!!
Here are some reminders :
TOMORROW is picture re-take day!!!!
On Wednesday, we are having a Halloween potluck during period 6...and a social periods 7. As mentioned last week, most kids have signed up for a food/beverage item.... anything goes on Wednesday. The kids can also come dressed in their costumes, or in Black and Orange..... there is a best-costume prize being given out by student council :)
In History - the kids have picked their "Father" of Confederation...and assignments have been handed out. A majority of the research will be done at school, but some searching may be done on the internet at home.

Long Weekend!
Don't forget that tomorrow is a PA Day for the kids!!
There is a little bit of math homework this weekend - 2 algebra questions to complete for Monday!
Also - the kids have their good copy of "My Healthy Daily Menu" due next Thursday.
Next Wednesday, we are planning on having a Halloween pot-luck after second break. The kids have all signed up for a munchie, dessert, or drinks. Just a heads-up that there are a couple kids with NUT allergies, so please ensure that any treats that have come into contact with any nut products - are well labelled...or avoid nut products if possible :)
Thank you in advance!
Have a great weekend!

BUSY week!!!
This week is going to be a short one - but a BUSY one!!!
Tomorrow, we head to the Orangeville Fairgrounds for the Grade 8 Career Day. Many vendors/employers will be there for the students to talk to them about the many different career paths available to them in the future. We leave at 11:30am and return to school at 3:00pm. Parents are more than welcome to join us.
Thursday - Michale Wade, author of "And Then It Happened" books is here at Erin P.S. to visit with the kids during the first two periods of the morning. He is hilarious , and his stories are awesome! I have been reading his material to the kids since September, and I know they are looking forward to his visit!
Friday is a PA Day - no school for the kids :)
Next Tuesday is picture re-take day, and next Wednesday we will be having a Halooween social during the last two periods of the day. All treats snacks are welcome - although we do have a couple students with NUT allergies in our class.
Have a great Monday everyone!

The soccer tournament went well today - despite the rain! Final results will be posted tomorrow...but I'm thinking maybe ONE or TWO of the teams MAY have come in first!!!!!

Fair!
Another week is flying by and I can tell by the buzz in the air that the Erin Fall Fair has arrived!
We have been quite busy in Room 18... getting things finished that need to be finished....starting new things and working away on others.
Here's a glance at our week so far :
In Language , the kids have been working through their first "four square" essay. We have been working on building/writing proper paragraphs - with detail, and then organizing those paragraphs into an essay style piece of writing. We have been working on "introduction" and "conclusion" paragraphs and making sure that they are linked properly to those organized paragraphs. Rough copies were due today..... and once those rough copies have been self-edited, peer edited, and I have read through them , the students move onto a good copy. Good copies can be typed or written, and are due on Tuesday.
In Math, we had a math quiz on Monday and although I haven't marked all of the tests - most kids were quite successful thus far! Great job! Quizzes will be returned on Tuesday. We have moved onto Internal Angle Theory of triangles, and will be working on this for the next week.
In History we are moving through the causes of Confederation, and how Canada reached the signing of Confederation in Charlottetown.
In Phys-ed/ Health, we have finished soccer and have moved onto European hand ball. In health, we continue on with healthy eating. The kids have been much better at bringing in proper gym attire this week - awesome!
I hope everyone has an amazing Thanksgiving! Enjoy the time with family and friends!
