I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend and enjoyed the warm weather!
We have had a great start to the week! In class, we have started many activities. In language we are working on a 4-square writing assignment. The kids got to choose their topic : Rain Forests are Complex Places OR Pierre-Luc Gangon is One of the Best Skateboarders in Canada. Each student received a graphic organizer with the information ALREADY on it. Their job is to develop a good essay, with well-developed paragraphs, around the information already given. Most students finished the task in class, however some students may be finishing this assignment at home tonight.
In math we worked on a "refresher" activity . We discussed lines, line segments, rays, angles, properties of shapes...and then completed a brief assignment where the kids had to prove to me how much geometry they remembered from last year. All work was done in class.
In science, we will continue to work on our Fluids unit. We are going on a trip next Wednesday - the 21st of September - to Island Lake Conservation Area in Orangeville. The kids will be doing water studies for half a day (which corresponds to a couple of their science units this year including fluids) and then will be participating in Character-Ed activities for the other half of the day. Permission forms went home today, and the cost is $4. We also need parent volunteers to join us that day. Please have the forms and money back to the school by the end of the week.
Other info :
1. Music test on Friday - naming notes
2. Parent Brag sheets are due by Friday
3.All other information sheets are due in offfice by Wednesday
4. Magazine sales packages went home yesterday and are to be returned just after Thanksgiving.
I hope everyone has a great week.... see you at Open House on the 27th!
