Snowy Week!

It's been another wintery week at EPS!

We started the week with some REALLY good oral book reports! The kids have chosen some amazing books to read, and the way they have been presented to the class demonstrates how much they enjoyed their reading material. There are a few more kids presenting tomorrow and Monday.

Our other language activities have included a lot of Olympic material. As the winter Olympics begin in Sochi, Russia, we will be following our athletes on Team Canada over the next few weeks.

In math, the kids are working on their culminating activities in Data Management. The activity is to create an infographic on a topic or theme of their choice.  Infographics are graphic visual representations of information, data or knowledge.  These graphics present complex information quickly and clearly. The devices include charts, diagrams, graphs, maps and lists.  Each student has been given an outline of the expectations for their infographics, and things are coming along well.  Due dates for final assignments will be determined next week.

History is wrapping up! We are working our way through the Canada at the Turn of the Century. Once we are finished, we start out geography unit. More info on our geography unit in the weeks to come!

In  phys-ed we are starting badminton, and continuing with our fitness rotations. School basketball teams have been picked and the tournament is on February 20th at the University of Guelph. Permission forms will be sent home by the coaches soon.

Our hockey team has its tournament coming up in March - details will follow soon.

Report cards go out today!  The kids and I will go over everything regarding each page of the report. They have also filled in their own "Learning Skills" portion of the report that will come home as well. This is a snap-shot of their own thoughts on their own learning skills. Please review the reports with your son or daughter, and complete the parent portion to be returned to school. If you have any questions about the report, or if you wish to speak to me- please feel free to contact me at the school.

Take care,

Miss Waddell
